The ISG Celebrates Its 35 Year Anniversary

Founded as the Data Communications Dealers Association (DCDA) in 1977, they later became the Data Systems Dealer Association (DSDA).

Shawnee, KS (PRWEB) June 1, 2013

The Identification Systems Group (ISG), the nationwide network of local identification system integrators, is celebrating its 35th anniversary this month. ISG will celebrate from April 15 until September 30, 2013 with many events planned.

The Identification Systems Group (ISG) first formed in 1977 as the DCDA – Data Communications Dealer Association (members of NOMDA). The DCDA held their first organized meeting in Memphis, TN in 1978. In March 1990, the DCDA changed their name to DSDA – Data Systems Dealer Association, Inc.

In July 1996, the DSDA evolved into a co-op and took on a new mission. This new mission is to provide products, services, supplies, and information solutions at the lowest possible cost to its members. It would be a non-profit cooperative, with its members as shareholders. In February 1997, committees were formed for New Products, OEM Products, and Computers to support the new mission and co-op structure.

In May 1997, the name officially changed to the Identification Systems Group (ISG) and they hired their first Executive Director. The ISG headquarters was moved to St Louis, MO. In June 2009, the headquarters was moved to Kansas City, MO where is remains today.

“I have been privileged to be associated with this very dynamic group in various capacities since 1992”, said Roger Sigler, ISG executive director. “Their phenomenal growth in size and sophistication over the years has established them as the model to follow in the industry. Their customers rely on them as trusted advisors in the markets they serve and because of the integrity, remain very loyal to them.”

The ISG will continue to be “the team to follow” for many years to come!
